Between 2014 and 2016 I designed the identity and signage system of the Catania Subway.
This project was born after a long study and research on the graphic system of the most important metropolitan systems in the world. I dedicated the entire project to the memory of designers Bob Noorda (who designed the signage system for the Milan, New York and Sao Paulo subways) and Massimo Vignelli (who designed the signage system for the Washington DC subway and, together with Noorda, the New York subway).
The project involved the creation of the brand, totems, wayfinding, uniforms, tickets and part of the interiors. I used a color system based on the colors that most represent the city, red and blue.
The system includes the integration of the Aganè character and the Aganè Icons, originally designed to be used exclusively in this project.
